A New Rhythm for Horley: Carnival Returns June 20th with a Fresh Format

Horley Carnival - land, air & sea, Horley recreation Ground Sat 20th June 12-5pm Music 4-8pm

HORLEY — The heart of the community is set to beat louder than ever this summer. On Saturday, 20th June, the Horley Carnival returns to the Recreation Ground, debuting an exciting new format that brings a high-energy evening of live local music.

The festivities begin at 12:30 PM with the Grand Parade. The streets will come alive with the sound of marching drums and brass bands as giant floats—representing the local groups and families that define Horley—make their way through the town from the Victoria Road car park. This year’s theme is ‘Land, Sea and Air’, and the floats in the procession will reflect the theme.

Once the parade arrives at the Recreation Ground, the gates open to a world of variety. From charming puppet shows to exotic reptile displays, the afternoon is packed with family-friendly entertainment. Adrenaline junkies should head straight to the Main Arena for two spectacular shows by the BMX Display Team, while local youth teams will battle it out in a high-stakes competition to be the first to cross ‘The River.’

As visitors explore the commercial and community stalls showcasing the best of local business and charity, street food vendors will be on hand to keep the crowds fuelled.

The biggest change for 2026 arrives at 4:00 PM, when a four-hour Music Event will feature four well-known local bands. While the carnival remains free to attend and fully accessible, revellers are encouraged to show their appreciation by donating to collectors from St. Catherine’s Hospice.

“This event is the result of months of dedication and collaboration,” say the organisers. “We invite everyone to bring their enthusiasm, their appetite, and most importantly, good people to share the day with.”
